Eric + Sarah | Kansas City Engagement Photos | Sidebar: I am obsessed with your dog

First things first…

Let me take a moment to introduce

Bitty, the Bulldog

Who is actually not very “bitty” at all.

Nonetheless, Bitty is adorable in that whole

I-have-an-underbite-and-I-slobber-a-lot-but-I-will-still-melt-your-heart

kind of way.

Bitty belongs to Sarah & Eric, who will be getting married next May.

A few weeks ago I had a chance to hang out with the 3 of them for an engagement shoot.

Our shoot took us from Brookside…

to the Nelson-Atkins Museum…

to Liberty Memorial for some nighttime pics with the Kansas City Skyline in the background, namely Union Station,

which is where Eric asked Sarah to marry him.

These two are adorable. Here are the rest of my favorites from our shoot.

At-Home Family Photo Shoot | Columbia, Missouri

The relationships I have with my clients that allow me to document their lives over the years is one really awesome aspect of my job. Back in June 2011 I took newborn photos of Jonah when he was about a week old–fast forward to a few weeks ago when I stopped by the family home to take some new photos of Jonah, who is now a big 1 year old. We snapped these photos in the backyard during sunset. Jonah is always on the move which means that I laid flat on my stomach in the grass so that I could get some of these photos. All the while Shelby, the pug, ran around us attempting to photo bomb :) Needless to say we had a lot of fun during this relaxed at-home photo shoot. Jonah has an infectious giggle that had me smiling the whole time.

Here is Jonah last summer, a newborn:

And Jonah today, 1 year old.

Cavapoo | Land of Paws

That’s not a real puppy, that’s too little to be a real puppy…

Meet Cora, she’s a Cavapoo–that’s a cross between a Cavalier King Spaniel & Miniature Poodle mix for those of you that are wondering. She belongs to my friend, Dana. Dana came to visit me in KC a few weeks ago with 2 goals; to catch up with friends and to find a puppy. For over a month Dana had been searching online through independent breeders (which can be a little sketchy in MO) and rescue organizations for her perfect companion. While some leads were promising–nothing came to fruition. I suggested we check out Land Of Paws–a Kansas City based pet store that offers upscale dog & cat supplies and also provides legitimate not-raised-in-a-puppy-mill  small breed puppies for sale.  Land Of Paws has 3 Kansas City area locations: Overland Park, Prairie Village and Briarcliff. Dana found Cora at the Prairie Village location–it was love at first sight. THANK YOU to Kristen L. from Land Of Paws for all of your help!

Engagement Portraits – Kansas City Wedding Photographer

Meet Joel & Katy…

& Arlo, the pug.

Joel and Katy are engaged and I’m the lucky gal that gets to photograph their wedding this fall in Columbia, Missouri.

The two needed some formal engagement photos for the newspaper and also wanted some photos of their beloved pug, Arlo, so they booked one of my Winter Mini-Sessions (that I hosted at the L. Frisch Photography studio back in February). I thoroughly enjoyed photographing their little family and I’m happy that I got a chance to meet Arlo (since I’m not sure he’s invited to the wedding). I look forward to this October and the opportunity to photograph Joel and Katy’s big day, can’t wait!

Must Love Dogs – Pet Portraits – Kansas City Photographer

Must love dogs…

February’s mini-session promo had a lot of proud pet parents bringing their pups to the studio. First up, here are my favorites from pugs Phyllo & Brutus’ portrait session at my Kansas City studio.

Here is Chewie, a llapso-mix with an adorable under-bite. His mom brought along a frog outfit and a toy soldier outfit for him to wear during the shoot.

Bring your doggie to work day…

Last post I announced my good news–that I’ve got a sweet studio space here in Kansas City now. The other day I brought my little fluff-ball, Miss Precious Perfect (yes, that’s her real name), along with me to play around in the new space…try out some different lighting schemes and such. Besides being afraid of walking on the wood floor in the studio (she’s a little neurotic) she was a pretty great model for her mom. Here are the ones that make me smile the most:

Happy dog!

Preshy’s “boudior” photo ;-)

Doesn’t this one look like it should be on a dog food bag?

M.P.P. is looking very regal with that ornate tufted headboard there.

Then I gave Precious the camera and she snapped this business portrait for me!

Kidding.

That was a product of my own MacGyver-y while Precious did this:

Don’t forget that I’m offering specially priced mini-sessions at the studio on Saturday February 18th. I only have 3 spots left! Secure your spot now, call me at 816.679.4229 or click here to email me to schedule your session.
