Happiness | Kansas City Based Photographer

When you’re 5 years old happiness is just a Mr. Bubble container away. {sigh} To return to the days when life was this simple.

Family Portraits – Kansas City Photographer

When photographing a family session with 2 young kids it’s always important to have candy on hand.

A promise of a candy reward in exchange for good behavior goes a long way during a 30 minute portrait session. A simple wave of the candy bowl past their noses and these two were perfect angels (and models) for me during their mini-session with their mom on 2/18/12.

Kansas City here I come!

Effective August 1st, 2011 L. Frisch Photography will be based in and operating out of Kansas City, Missouri.

What does this move mean for all of my loyal mid-Missouri/St. Louis clients and fans? No worries! My photo shoots have me traveling back and forth all across the state for the rest of the year. Looking to book a portrait session? Just give me a call and we’ll figure out a convenient time when I’ll be in your area.

I want to thank you all for the support, encouragement and patronage during these formative years here in Columbia, building my photography business.

I feel truly blessed that I get to do what I love for a living, and I wouldn’t be where I am today without my wonderful mentors, clients, assistants, colleagues and friends.

Love,

Adventures in Sports shooting

My boyfriend plays Rugby, a sport I’d had no exposure to until I met him, a sport that I’m trying to wrap my head around but still find pretty confusing. It finally worked out that I had a free Saturday to go watch one of his games, naturally I brought my camera. Considering that I never shoot sports I was pleased with my pics, did pretty well tracking the action. Anyhoo, here’s a selection of what I deem my ‘favs’ :

Sir, you can’t park here…

It’s a bad day to live in building G.

From the police blotter:

Grindstone Canyon residents evacuated after truck crashes into building

Officers responded to a car accident at Grindstone Canyon Apartments after a vehicle struck Building G of the complex, a report from the Columbia Police Department stated, Wieneke said.

At 12:48 a.m. Thursday, a Ford F-150 struck the building, causing significant damage to the apartment. The Columbia Fire Department evacuated occupants of the complex for the night.

The driver, junior Kyle Gowen, and passenger, senior Hasban Shaikh, were the only people in the vehicle. Medics treated both occupants due to the air bags being deployed in the truck, Wieneke said.

Gowen received a ticket for careless and imprudent driving and failure to provide proof of insurance. He was tested for evidence of intoxication, but was not impaired.”

From the talented Mr. Larson…

My business cards needed a little sprucing up. I’ve always had a variety of my images showcased on the front of the cards, but the back of the cards was always pretty boring. I wanted to have new spiffy, good-looking cards for WPPI so I had the very creative and talented Gaige Larson work up some new designs for me. What do you think?

Destination: Mexico

I photographed my very first destination wedding this past November in Playa del Carmen, Mexico.  Sam & Lucas flew me out to capture their very special day. The story of Sam and Lucas is straight out of a movie…upon meeting each other they knew, almost instantly, that they had met the person they wanted to spend the rest of their life with. In a courtship that took them allover Europe they fell even more in love and were soon engaged. Sam is from Missouri and Lucas is from Peru, both had been living in Spain and working in the Middle East. With family and friends coming in from Missouri, Peru, Spain, Canada and Japan it made sense for them to pick a central location for their wedding, and Playa del Carmen was the perfect place.

The couple was wed in a traditional Catholic ceremony at a church in the town. Immediately after the ceremony (as the sun was setting rapidly) we went to take photos by some ruins and on the beach. Below are some of my favorite photos from the day:
